Job Description

1.       Support the implementation of the communications and advocacy strategy which will include preparing Information, Education and Communications materials e.g. videos, briefs, newsletters, and case studies.

2.       With support from the communications specialists and Cambridge Education communications team where relevant, manage updating for all social media accounts for the programme (Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube) to reach wider audiences and enhance engagement with stakeholders. Develop content including news items, case studies and summaries for the EQUIP-T programme website, newsletters and other publications

3.       In consultation with Communication officer prepare IEC materials for zonal sharing meetings and update Regional Technical Leads on key areas of concern

4.       Collect and validate data for training database from Regional Technical Leads and update the database regularly

5.       Participate in research and studies such as the Annual Monitoring Survey as well as operational research.

6.       Coordinate sharing learning and communication events including planning, execution, and link with other programme areas

7.       Collect and disseminate LGA communication quarterly monitoring reviews reports and stories of change

8.       Support regular dialogue and integration between communication and M&E Team

9.       Work closely with School Information System (SIS) expert in developing data quality checks within a system for better data capture and reporting

10.   Identify bugs and errors within SIS system that limit data collection process and hinder its performance

11.   Collect disaggregated gender data across programmatic areas and develop presentations

12.   Conduct any work assigned by supervisor

Candidate Specification

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in public health, sociology, demography, statistics, communications, marketing, media or other social science area
· Academic qualification in monitoring and evaluation will be an added advantage.
· Experience in a programme environment. It is important that the successful candidate can demonstrate experience of working in or with sector development programmes
· Numeracy skills. The candidate should have a some understanding of either quantitative or qualitative research methods and be comfortable in working with basic statistical packages
· Creativity and attention to detail. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate creativity and a thorough knowledge in creating, commissioning and producing designed materials, websites, radio and film, and developing compelling campaigns for stakeholders and/or the public
· Organisational skills. The successful candidate will be able to show that she/he can organise and manage their own work, including a high degree of proficiency in computer skills, planning, and reporting skills
· Written. It is essential that the successful candidate has excellent written skills in English, including the ability to create a compelling copy from technical information, draft news releases, content for leaflets and newsletters.
· Interpersonal. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills; able to work well with others, to contribute to and present at meetings and play a constructive role in the success of the programme.
· Experience of using various quantitative analysis software like SPSSS and EXCEL or STATA a highly desirable.

The Education Quality Improvement Programme in Tanzania (EQUIP-Tanzania) is an initiative funded by the Department for International

Development (DFID). The programme seeks to support the Government of Tanzania to improve the quality of education in primary schools and to increase the number of children, particularly girls, able to transfer to secondary education. During the period between 2017 and 2019, the emphasis will be on institutionalisation of the programme in the existing regions while rolling out to two new regions.

The programme is looking for Learning and Dissemination Young Professional (YP) to provide support to the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and the Communications Officer. The YP will be involved in a number of communications activities and will provide support to monitoring and evaluation of the programme. This is a great opportunity for young professionals who wish to advance their careers in Monitoring, Evaluation, and dissemination, especially within the education sector.
