The Scope of Work

Key responsibilities for the Legal Counsel/ Manage is acting as a legal advisor for the center and taking responsibility for formulating legal defense and prosecutions strategies for cases in which tzNIC has interest. He/she should also represent the center in attending court cases as and when is required. Additionally, this candidate is required to take on full responsibility for coordination and project managing quarterly board reports. This process will involve input from other team members however collation of content, report structure, format, and submission is a task that will be led by the Legal Counsel with guidance and support from the rest of the management team who are each required to feed in relevant information from their respective departments as well as review from the CEO.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate compilation and drafting of various legal documents such as legal forms, dispute resolution rules/policies or contracts between the center and other parties.
  • Review contracts and agreements ensuring compliance with the legal norms
  • Five legal opinions as required by the CEO and the Policy Advisory Committee(PAC) when required;
  • Help to educate key stakeholders about the legal implications of .tz domain in accordance with National Lw/regulations and in line with tzNIC policies and rules;
  • Formulate legal defense and prosecution strategies for cases in which tzNIC has interest e.g. attending court cases on behalf of tzNIC and dealing with external legal authorities;
  • Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance whilst maintaining current knowledge of alterations in legislation;
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on legal issues;
  • Support, advise and update management team on all legal matters that are relevant or related to the operation creating appropriate strategies when necessary;
  • As a member of the management team expected to act as a brand ambassador seeking opportunities to enhance the image of tzNIC whenever possible;
  • Coordinate projects and manage compilation and structuring of quarterly PAC reports ensuring deadlines and standards are consistently met;
  • Any other duties prescribed by the CEO in accordance with company policy

Qualifications:

  • A holder of Bachelors Degree in Law
  • Minimum of three years legal work experience in a reputable organizations
  • Masters Degree of being an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania will be an added advantage
