Purpose of the Role

The Manager, Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for overseeing the banks entire project portfolio encompassing both traditional business initiatives and cutting-edge digital innovation efforts. This role provides strategic leadership in implementing Agile best practices, ensuring that all projects, especially those driving digital transformation, are executed efficiently and deliver maximum value. The ideal candidate will live and breathe Agile, championing iterative development, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement to enhance the bank's competitive edge and operational excellence.

Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities

Agile Project Governance & Leadership

  • Establish and maintain an Agile project governance framework that supports both traditional and digital projects across the bank.
  • Lead the adoption of Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) to foster collaboration, accelerate delivery, and ensure iterative, customer-centric development.
  • Serve as an Agile coach, guiding teams on sprints, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog management to continuously refine processes and outcomes.

Digital Transformation & Trend Analysis:

  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, market trends, and regulatory changes that can drive innovation and operational improvements.
  • Integrate Agile principles into digital transformation initiatives to ensure rapid prototyping, stakeholder alignment, and iterative solution delivery.

Project Planning & Execution:

  • Oversee the planning, organization, and execution of all projects, ensuring alignment with the banks strategic objectives and Agile best practices.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of projects from initial concept and pilot through implementation, scaling, and organizational adoption.
  • Implement Agile metrics (e.g., velocity, burndown charts) to track progress and adjust priorities in real time.

Enhancing Digital Services:

  • Lead initiatives aimed at improving digital customer experiences and streamlining internal processes via innovative technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (ICT, Business Development, Operations) to rapidly test, iterate, and deploy new digital services.

Stakeholder Engagement & Vendor Management:

  • Prepare proposals and business requirements documents for bank-wide projects, working with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies (e.g., Scrum of Scrums) to ensure transparent communication and alignment between technical teams and business units.
  • Manage vendor relationships and project-related communications, balancing speed of delivery with quality and compliance.

Financial & Performance Management:

  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and monitor return on investment (ROI) for all major initiatives, especially digital innovation projects.
  • Define and track performance metrics and KPIs to measure project success, using data to drive continuous improvement in both Agile processes and project outcomes.

Market Research & Data Analysis:

  • Perform market research to uncover opportunities for product enhancements, process optimizations, and new digital offerings.
  • Analyze competitor activities, customer feedback, and emerging technologies to inform backlog prioritization and project roadmaps.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

  • Work closely with the Manager Product Development to demarcate product-specific initiatives from broader transformation projects, ensuring clarity in ownership and execution.
  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement by conducting Agile retrospectives, integrating lessons learned, and scaling best practices across all teams.

Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in Agile project planning, backlog management, sprints, retrospectives, and continuous delivery.
  • Ability to conduct market research, data analysis, and process improvement to guide project direction.
  • Familiarity with digital banking solutions, innovation trends, and core banking platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a knack for fostering cross-functional teamwork and stakeholder alignment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Projects, and Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Trello) to track and report project progress.

Communication & Functional Relationships

Internal: Regular engagement with the Managing Director, various department heads, ICT, and Innovation teams to ensure project alignment with organizational strategy.

External: Coordination with software vendors, service providers, and industry partners to integrate cutting-edge solutions and maintain robust system performance.
