Metallurgical Superintendent Barrick - North Mara Gold Mine Mara, Tanzania

North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit One (01Metallurgical Superintendent to join Process Plant Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervision of the metallurgical team, to ensure safety is managed, and overall development performance is monitored efficiently. The position will report to the Process Plant Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Plant metallurgical team.
  • Manage Succession Planning within the Metallurgy Team to ensure that Barrick achieves development of Tanzanian employees to assume positions of increasing accountability.  Development of Plant metallurgists, Supervisors, Technicians and Operators to positions of increasing accountability is a key performance indicator.
  • Lead Metallurgy Team during operations to ensure agreed targets are achieved within corporate safety and environmental guidelines in the areas.
  • Achieve set targets for Mill Availability, throughput and recovery.
  • Manage Operating & Maintenance costs and capital expenditure.
  • Manage activities of the metallurgy team to ensure cost effective and high quality metal recovery activities, metallurgical performance and to optimize Company’s financial status.
  • Develop and Implement Safe Work Procedures and other operations procedures.
  • Ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to chemical safety standards with a specific focus on Environmental standards and ICMI standards.
  • Taking accountability for the effectiveness of the environmental management system.
  • Ensuring that the departmental environmental objectives are established and are compatible with the strategic direction and the context of the organization.
  • Ensuring that the resources needed for the environmental management system are available.
  • Communicating the importance of effective environmental management and of conforming to the environmental management system requirements.
  • Ensuring that the environmental management system achieves its intended outcomes.
  • Directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the environmental management system.
  • Promoting continual improvements.
  • Supporting other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to their area of responsibility.
  • Taking accountability for the effectiveness of the environmental management system
  • Ensuring that the environmental policy and environmental objectives are established and are compatible with the strategic direction and the context of the organization.
  • Communicating the importance of effective environmental management and of conforming to the environmental management system requirements.
  • Directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the environmental management system
  • Supporting other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to their area of responsibility

  

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Extraction Metallurgy.
  • Computer literacy is essential- Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, (SAP, Ellipse, Pronto, Oracle etc)

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 6 years’ - Supervision experience in mineral processing.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience at a managerial level.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in gold processing.
  • Experience with gold smelting, boxing and shipment process.
  • Experience with gold room operation.
  • Experience with GSS gold security standard..

 

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Verifiable track record gained in similar diversified high level portfolio
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Safety Management Systems
  • Ability to consistently manage such a diversified portfolio in a high pressure environment
  • Highly professional conduct at all times and the ability to deal with a diverse client base.
  • Significant base knowledge of all the areas depicted in the profile
  • Must be motivated individual with ability to operate with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong technical and strategic planning related experience and background.
  • Strong values in safety commitment, policy and enforcement related experience and background..
