Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for the daily inspection and dipping of fuel trucks and dispensing equipment.
  • Reporting of any Technical deviations on the refueling equipment.
  • Immediate reporting of any variances in fuel levels to Fuel & Lubricant Supervisor.
  • Prior to commencing each shift, diligently conduct comprehensive pre-start checks on the fuel truck to ensure its optimal functionality and safety. 
  • Immediate reporting of all defects of fuel trucks and dispensing equipment to Fuel & Lubricant Supervisor.
  • Complete the daily fuel/lube dispensing sheet with accurate data.
  • Ensure that correct hour meter readings of all equipment are recorded on the dispensing sheet.
  • Ensure that correct quantity (in liters) of fuel is recorded against the correct equipment on the dispensing sheet.
  • Ensure that equipment operator signs for the fuel.
  • Assisting in the repairs of the technical equipment, with the assistance of the trade’s person.
  • Upon concluding the shift, perform a thorough inspection to confirm the truck's pristine condition and proper parking, ensuring readiness for emergency deployment if required. 
  • Deliver the daily fuel dispensing sheet to the Fuel & Lubricant Supervisor after completion of each shift and signed-off the paperwork once data are reconciled with Fuel and lubricant supervisor. 
  • Ensure that the fuel in the fuel truck is always secured.
  • Complete the fuel requisition form and present to the Fuel & Lubricant Supervisor for authorization.
  • Ensure that the required liters of fuel are pumped into the fuel truck by the fuel station pump attendant.
  • Deliver the daily fuel requisition form to the Fuel & Lubricant Supervisor after completion of each shift.
  • Do detail inspections of fuel lines and fuel modifications of all equipment.
  • Report any tampering or breakages of fuel lines, fuel tanks and LAFON equipment fitted to the equipment.
  • Accurately capturing the trucks loading volume at the weighbridge. 
  • Assist with meter calibrations on the refueling vehicles.
  • Avoid any fuel spillages to the environment.
  • Treat any environmental spillages of fuel with absorbent material.
  • Report any spillages to the environment team and the Fuel & Lubricant Supervisor.
  • Ensure that absorbent material is always available on the fuel truck.
  • Aid Fuel and Lubricants Supervisor on conducting tank and fuel bowser dipping as needed.   
  • Wash and clean the fuel truck after every shift.
  • Do escorts of fuel trucks where and when necessary.
  • Comply with all safety procedures of Barrick North Mara.
  • Comply with instructions received from the Fuel & Lubricant Supervisor or Supply management team. 

Qualification requirements

  • Secondary School Education Certificate.
  •  VETA Driving Certificate.
  • Possess a Valid Tanzanian driving license, class B, C, D and E.
  • Able to Drive Manual Transmission/Stick Shift Transmission.
  • Sound knowledge of Mining Safety Regulations and best practice.

Experience and competencies needed.

  • Experience on Operating Preferably Dump Truck 777D/785C and Articulation Trucks (AT)
  • Ability to consistently manage such a diversified portfolio in a high-pressure environment.
  • Highly professional conduct always and the ability to deal with a diverse client base.
  •  Must be motivated individual with ability to operate with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong technical and strategic planning related experience and background.
  •  Strong values in safety commitment, policy and enforcement related experience and background
  • Performing tasks under minimal supervision and monitoring 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
