Hesu Investment Ltd is seeking a dedicated Network and Database Engineer to join our team and contribute to our mission of fostering a positive environment.

Hesu Investment Ltd is licensed under Tanzania Revenue Authority to operate an ICD facility. Its well-located depot site includes 9 acres of paved yard with the capacity to store 3800 Twenty Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) stacked 5 high. Job Purpose
The Network and Database Engineer will support, maintain, and optimize the organization’s network infrastructure and database systems to ensure business continuity, security, and performance. The role focuses on operational excellence, issue resolution, system improvement, and collaboration with internal teams to support business applications and services.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations
- Maintain and support LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and internet connectivity.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security using monitoring tools.
- Implement and maintain network security controls and access policies.
- Perform routine network maintenance, upgrades, and documentation.
- Assist in capacity planning and network optimization initiatives.
Database Administration
- Administer and support databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
- Monitor database performance and resolve availability and performance issues.
- Implement and manage database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Optimize queries, indexes, and database structures for application performance.
- Manage database users, permissions, and access controls.
- Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance with company policies.
Operational Support
- Respond to network and database incidents and service requests.
- Work closely with software developers and system administrators to support applications.
- Maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and SOPs.
- Assist in system upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations.
- Support audits, risk assessments, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Experience
- 3–5 years hands-on experience in network and database administration within a corporate or private sector environment.
Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, and DNS.
- Experience managing firewalls, VPNs, and network security controls.
- Strong SQL skills and practical database administration experience.
- Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Familiarity with backup, replication, and high-availability solutions.
- Exposure to cloud networking or databases (AWS, Azure, GCP) is an added advantage.
Soft Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Time management and ability to prioritize operational tasks.
- Business-focused mindset with attention to system reliability.
Certifications
- CCNA
- Microsoft, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL certifications
- ITIL Foundation
