Network Cabling Technician
Duty Station: Dar-es Salaam
Number of Positions: 5
Duration of Contract: Minimum 2 Years, extendable on mutual agreement.
Responsibilities

Installation of Cabling Systems
- Planning and Layout: Engage and Collaborate with architects, engineers, and IT staff to design cabling systems.
- Perform site surveys, read and use blueprints and floor plans, document findings regarding requirements and needs: Test Results, As-Built, Pictures before and after and Quality Audits.
- Installation and removal of structured cabling components, cabinets, pathway systems (cable tray), PVC Trunking, PVC Conduits, move equipment, network racks and related communications infrastructure materials.
- Running Cables: Install cables such as Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, fiber optics, and coaxial cables through walls, ceilings, and floors.
- Terminating Cables: Properly terminate cables using connectors like RJ45, ensuring strong and reliable connections.

Testing and Troubleshooting
- Cable Testing: Use specialized equipment to test the integrity and performance of installed cables.
- Troubleshooting Issues: Diagnose and fix issues with connectivity, signal loss, and other network problems.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of installations, test results, and any issues encountered and resolved.

Maintenance and Upgrades
- Routine Checks: Perform regular inspections and maintenance to ensure the ongoing reliability of the cabling system.
- System Upgrades: Upgrade cabling systems to support new technologies or increased data loads.
- Repair Work: Replace damaged cables or connectors to restore network functionality.

Compliance and Standards
- Adherence to Standards: Ensure that all installations meet industry standards such as TIA/EIA and ISO/IEC.
- Safety Regulations: Follow all safety regulations to prevent hazards related to electrical cabling.

Client Interaction
- Consultation: Work with clients to understand their needs and provide solutions tailored to their specific requirements.
- Training: Educate clients on the proper use and maintenance of their cabling systems.
If You…
- Have a Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field OR Have significant experience in Structural Cabling Installation and Maintenance.
- Certifications: BICSI Installer (INST1, INST2), Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI) & Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT).
- Minimum of 2 Yrs Experience in Cabling Installation and Maintenance, Cabling Systems, various Cabling types and their specific uses.
- Ability to use tools and equipment for cable installation and testing.
- Precision in installing and testing cables to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Strong communication skills to interact with clients and team members.
