Position Title: OPERATOR (PORTABLE WATER/SEWAGE (1 POST)

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

• An Operator for portable water or sewage is accountable for operating and maintaining pipes and all pumps used for water distribution and wastewater disposal site wide including the village/ camp according to specifications. Collect and transport water samples.
• Supervise treatment and assure proper monitoring and control of water and sewage infrastructure systems, site wide including the village/ camp to maintain infrastructure system integrity and improve systems reliability and general performance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

The following are the accountabilities and authorities for this role

• An Operator for portable water or sewage is accountable for operating and maintaining pipes and all pumps used for water distribution and wastewater disposal site wide including the village/ camp according to specifications. Collect and transport water samples.
• Supervise treatment and assure proper monitoring and control of water and sewage infrastructure systems, site wide including the village/ camp to maintain infrastructure system integrity and improve systems reliability and general performance.
• Execute any ad hoc task assigned to you.
• Operate and adjust controls on equipment to purify and clarify water, process or dispose of sewage.
• Clean and disinfect storage tanks, filter beds, and other work areas, using hand tools and power tools.
• Clean work areas
• Clean production equipment
• Keep water system plans up to date.
• Conduct safety inspections and follow safety rules.
• Supervise treatment and assure proper monitoring and control of monitor pump motors to detect unusual noises, vibrations or excessive heat.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

• Minimum of a technical certificate or equivalent from a recognized learning institution
• FTC or Trade Test Grade I, II, 111
• Computer literate Microsoft Projects /MS office programs

Experience:

• 3 years experience
• Approved apprenticeship. A good knowledge and experience of operating portable water/sewage and demonstration of trade competence.

Must have knowledge of:

• Competency in operating portable water/sewage fields/functions
