Duties and Responsibilities

1. To carry out general walk-through workplace inspections for the purpose of the establishment of compliance status;
2. To carry out specific Building and construction inspections and recommend remedial measures for identified problems;
3. To conduct risk assessment;
4. To operate and maintain measuring equipment;
5. To prepare and submit reports timely;
6. To Plan and implement specific buildings and construction safety programmes for both workers and management;
7. To keep records of inspections;
8. To provide buildings and construction safety consultancy services;
9. To carry out accidents investigations and recommend control measures;
10. To provide input for surveys and researches;
11. To provide inputs in the preparation of Business plan, Strategic plan and other policy formulation in relation to Building and Construction Safety;
12. To prepare articles and manuals on buildings and construction safety;
13. To provide input to Public Relations Office on buildings and construction safety issues to be delivered to media, Government Agencies, workers and Management
14. To interpret scientific data collected during investigations and recommend appropriate control methods;
15. To conduct follow up inspections to ensure corrective measures have been implemented;
16. To scrutinize and approve drawings and plans for buildings and constructions;
17. To review documents from workplace;
18. To recognize, evaluate and control buildings and construction hazards;
19. To review existing and current Occupational safety and health literature;
20. To participate in the court proceedings on buildings and construction safety matters; and
21. To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Qualification and Experience

Holder of Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institution. Must be registered by ERB as Graduate Engineer.
