Project Description

Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs Trade and Development (also known as Global Affairs Canada – GAC), Field Support Services Project (FSSP) based in Tanzania. This FSSP is responsible for providing a range of services in support of program delivery and policy dialogue of Canada’s international assistance in Tanzania. Services from this project include, but are not limited to, the provision of administrative, logistical, technical, and financial services for GAC and other clients identified by GAC in Tanzania.

The Role

The tasks for the FSSP Project Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing ongoing information and advice on local socio-economic context and indicators, such as governmental priorities, inflation, and risk factors, in support of DFATD programming in Tanzania
  • Ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of the services as per the pre-established technical and logistic arrangements, including compliance with schedules and client satisfaction
  • Maintaining contact with the focal point throughout the duration of the contract
  • Preparing and delivering multimedia presentations and other communications products related to the provision of FSSP services and technical expertise
  • Building and maintaining a portfolio of qualified technical specialists in various sectors of interest to Canada and local service providers, in Tanzania
  • Maintain a record of Technical Specialists that includes their tasks/deliverables, the level of effort (days worked) and their daily fees, for the review of the Technical Authority

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced (post-graduate) degree in political sciences, law, international development, economics, finance, business administration, project management, social sciences, engineering or applied sciences. A copy of the stated proof of education MUST be provided.
  • Previous project coordination experience (6 or more years preferred) of supporting international development programming including administration, logistics, and finance.
  • Experience managing a minimum of two international development projects (with a minimum duration of 3 years) with a project value of over $2,000,000 CAD per project;
  • Experience working with international development stakeholders including donors (such as GAC, USAID, FCDO), and national government representatives or regional stakeholders;
  • Proven experience preparing key project documents including annual workplans, narrative financial and administrative reports.
  • Significant experience working in international development in Tanzania and the wider region;
  • Experience in researching, locating background information, analyzing, extracting relevant information and writing summaries;
  • Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating administrative and logistics services;
  • Experience supporting the implementation of project activities, monitoring results, coordinating project reviews/lessons learned and dealing with project issues and challenges as they arise.
