HELVETAS Swiss Interoperation (HELVETAS) Is a Swiss INGO actively contributing to the improvement of living conditions and status or economically poor and socially disadvantaged people in more than 33 developing countries. The urbanization of services in 5 different working areas of development which water and infrastructure, rural economy, environment and climate, education and skills development, and government and peace. In Tanzania, HELVETAS has been working for more than 20 years. currently, it runs some project in central corridor regions and the northern part of Tanzania which include rural livelihoods, horticulture, grain post-harvest loss prevention and primary education.

HELVETAS in Tanzania has acquired a new three-year mandate from the European Union to execute a new project called empowering smallholder women and youth farmers on rice post-harvest management and marketing, in short, called RIPOMA. the project's overall objective is to contribute to economic development and reducing poverty in the southern agricultural growth corridor of Tanzania(SAGCOT) through improved rice value chains and market linkages of smallholder farmers. its specific objectives are value chains in Morogoro region, Kilosa, and Mvomero district in particular.

HELVETAS now invites application from qualified and dynamic Tanzanian citizens for the following position

Position: Project Manager

Duty Station: Morogoro(30%  of time outside of office or field monitoring)

Qualification: Master’s Degree in any field but with Agriculture background would be an advantage

Experience: at least 10 years working experience in development projects including 5 years in management position in INGOs

Duties and responsibilities

  • General administrative support and overall management of project operations and ensure project outcomes and outputs achieved in a timely manner
  • Responsible for project human resources and assets management
  • Responsible for financial management including processing, payroll and risk management, financial verification to partners.
  • Responsible for project monitoring and reporting
  • Networking and coordination of government and non-government agencies, private and donors and maintain a good relationship.
  • Ensuring organization manuals, policies, procedures, and other financial tools are followed.

Competencies

  • Understanding of the rice post-harvest management, value chain and M4P/MSD approach in general.
  • Experience of working in a rural area farmers
  • Good understanding of advocacy and policy dialogue, gender and social inclusion, poverty, and governance.
  • High knowledge of administrative, budgeting, financial control systems, and EU reporting
  • Excellent computer skills, with special competency in WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint
  • Team player, strong and communication with sound spoken and written English Swahili skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Duration: 30-month contract
