Job Title: Psychosocial Officer – Disability Inclusive Ultra-Poor Graduation
Project Sustainability: 30 Months Job Location: Dodoma, Singida.
Purpose
The Psychosocial (PSS) worker will provide psychosocial, emotional, and mental health support to individuals and families within the DIG program. The goal of the psychosocial worker is to help participants with disability improve and maintain psychological well-being to perform activities of daily living (ADL) and participate fully in the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Together with the rehabilitation officer (RO), identify and assess the needs of the project participants with a disability and design treatment plans to achieve project objectives.
- Provide individual and group psychosocial sessions to project participants according to their needs and priorities.
- Accompany project assistants (PA) in follow-up and monitoring project participants' psychosocial wellbeing before, during, and after interventions.
- Advocate for including project participants with disability in the graduation program and educate families, caregivers, and the community on disability rights and inclusion.
- Identify referral points, and refer cases to complement or transfer services towards achieving participants' goals and psychological well-being. Referrals can be discussed in team meetings and close collaboration with other colleagues.
- Participate in service mapping and develop inclusive case management profiles for persons with disability.
- Provide technical support to project assistants and other project team members on psychosocial support, and advise on using tools and documentation at an individual and project level.
- Provides family and caregiver education on psychosocial support.
- The PSS worker will work closely with the project team, including the rehabilitation officer project assistants and other DIG program staff, to ensure that project participants receive comprehensive and coordinated care with their families and caregivers.
- Follow up and monitor the progress of individual care and refer cases requiring advance care from preidentified referral points in the region or country.
- Participate in developing training/communication aids and adapting them according to the needs of the target population;
- Ensure timely and quality report submission to Operations Manager and other internal stakeholders.
- Prepare reports and file requisite documents after the therapeutic session with project participants.
- Support preparing learning documents on psychosocial support during different phases of the program implementation for the ongoing initiatives in BRAC Operating countries.
- Actively participate in all the project meetings, technical follow-up, and internal and external training related to the position and according to the technical and operational requirements of the project.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
- Any protection concerns with project participants and the team and report them to the line manager or through the organization's reporting mechanism.
- Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the program's goals of safeguarding.
- Act as a critical source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure if any reportable incident occurs, and encourage others to do so.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Psychology
