BMT is seeking applications from competent, dynamic, and self-motivated individuals to fill up the following position;

Job Title:  Rehabilitation Officer – Disability Inclusive Ultra-Poor Graduation

Project Sustainability: 30 Months Job Location: Dodoma, Singida.

 

Purpose

Physiotherapists (PT) assess, identify, and treat people with disability with physical and functional needs; at the same time responsible for identifying assistive products according to the needs and adapting home and workspace to participate in the graduation program.

The PT is responsible for the daily implementation of activities, reporting, and documentation of new information and progress.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Together with the psychosocial workers (PSS), identify and assess the needs of the project participants with disability and design treatment plans to achieve project objectives.
  • Provides family and caregiver education on basic rehabilitation and maintenance of assistive devices
  • Identify referral points, and refer cases to complement or transfer services towards achieving participants' goals, rehabilitation, and assistive technology. Referrals can be discussed in team meetings and close collaboration with colleagues.
  • Facilitate assessing and providing assistive devices, accessibility, and further referral for people with disabilities in complicated situations.
  • Conduct home assessment and plan with the family accessibility improvement and support reasonable accommodation to facilitate ease of movement in and outside the home.
  • Participate in the service mapping and develop inclusive case management profiles for persons with disability, developing and implementing referral mechanisms related to rehabilitation and other essential health services for people with disabilities.
  • Advocate for including project participants in the graduation program and educate families, caregivers, and the community on disability rights and rehabilitation support.
  • Support the project team member on rehabilitation, and advise using the tools and documentation at an individual and project level.
  • Collaborate with BRAC's mission's other technical, operational, and support departments according to the needs.
  • Cross-checking the selected people with disabilities as program participants according to BRAC selection criteria
  • Maintain and update participant files related to rehabilitation assessments, plans, and progress updates.
  • Ensure quality control of personalized support processes for people with disabilities.
  • Coordination with the Branch Coordinators to ensure referral of people with disabilities to basic health centers and specialized service providers, promoting quality services that address needs, and ensuring follow-up of those referrals.
  • Contribute to the collection of case studies to monitor the progress of targeted people with disabilities
  • Contribute to indicator and quality of life tracking related to participants' progress towards graduation through monitoring and documenting practices of the DIG program and their staff.
  • Contributing to DIG's external representation on inclusive livelihood to other field-level actors and donors
  • Represent BRAC in relevant coordination meetings with livelihood actors (INGOs, NGOs, Local Government)
  • Support the Operation Manager and Branch Coordinators in managing inclusive livelihood intervention when needed.

 

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the program's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure if any reportable occurs, and encourage others to do so.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Good communication and facilitation skills in English and Swahili
  • Must exhibit high levels of patience and tolerance
  • Must possess good analytical and problem-solving abilities in designing treatment programs.
  • Must exhibit creativity and innovation in developing management for complex cases.
  • Documentation and reporting skills
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office package)
  • Cultural Competence: Understanding of different cultures and the ability to work with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Understanding of emotions, empathy, and the ability to regulate emotions.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks, such as lifting, transferring, and positioning clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to be a team player and to work independently and with initiative
  • Proven ability to perform under pressure and prioritize with multiple competing demands.        Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
