Position Summary

The Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a qualified Research Officer to take the role of a Software Documentation, Test, Installation, and Training Specialist. He/she will play a

pivotal role in ensuring the successful implementation and adoption of software solutions within the VMAN Project (Development of a Standard Verbal Autopsy Manager Tool to improve Death and Cause of Death Data Quality, Data Use and Data Linkages).

Duties and Responsibilities

His/her responsibilities will include documentation, quality assurance, installation procedures, and user training. The main tasks will be:

  1. Software Documentation:
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive procedural documents, manuals, and technical guides.
    • Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, and user manuals.
    • Ensure consistency in style, tone, and language across all documentation.
  1. Software Testing:
    • Collaborate with development teams to identify defects and bugs, working closely to resolve them.
    • Create test cases and test scripts based on user stories and requirements.
    • Perform regression testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for products.
  2. Installation Procedures:
    • Develop clear installation guides for end-users and system administrators.
    • Ensure smooth installation and configuration of software on various platforms.
    • Provide step-by-step instructions for installation, setup, and initial configuration.
  3. User Training:
    • Conduct on-site and remote training sessions for end-users.
    • Teach users how to effectively use newly implemented software.
    • Address common user queries and troubleshoot issues during training.

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies and tools.
  • Basic understanding of web technologies.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in an understandable manner.
