Job Description
NexGen is a fast-growing technical solutions and services provider for energy distribution networks in East Africa and is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide Mechanical and Integrity engineering expertise and to ensure work is planned and executed in accordance with Company policies and procedures
Responsibilities
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of relevant industry standards
• Maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems or processes to meet requirements.
• Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information
• Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions
• Review technical documents to plan work
• Evaluate characteristics of equipment or systems.
• Confer with other personnel to resolve mechanical or operational problems
• In depth knowledge of Mechanical, Production, Petrol Station and Oil Depot related equipment.
• Apply production, operational, Mechanical engineering and management principles to resolve mechanical problems
• Resolve industrial equipment problems
• Ability to plan and lead projects and must be able to work under pressure
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to work in a multidisciplinary and multi-tasking team
• Managing Maintenance department
• Prepare BOQ’s for Mechanical, Automation and Specialized Services.
• Supervise and coordinate field technicians during LOB, fuel dispenser installation etc
• Carry out quarterly and annual performance evaluation to field technicians
• Have competencies to prepare daily/weekly/monthly mechanical and operations reports
• Carry out routine checks on all mechanical and industrial equipment
• Assist and support HSSE teams in ensuring compliance to Safety and Security Policies and procedures at project locations
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance processes
• Champion the enforcement of standards and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment
• Any other duties assigned
Qualifications /Experience
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Proven skills managing people (at least four years as head of an operational department)
• Experience developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance processes is highly desirable
• Good knowledge of products and manufacturing processes (experience as an engineer in the oil industry is desirable)
• In-depth knowledge of maintenance management methods in the Oil Industry
• Good knowledge of problem-solving tools.
• Knowledge of general mechanical and electrical engineering and industrial automation in the Oil Industry is a must
• Knowledge of safety laws and regulations
• Computer literacy
