Description
The position will provide expert technical guidance and inputs to the project’s strategies, and work plan activities to ensure the project’s interventions and messages are locally relevant, I culturally appropriate, and address the country’s prioritized malaria SBCC needs.
Specifically will be responsible for providing leadership and technical guidance in the development and implementation of malaria-SBCC strategies, approaches, messages and activities; Providing malaria technical advice and guidance during the regionalization of the project’s SBCC strategies, which will include outreach, communication and training activities to partners, local government and organizations; Generating new ideas and innovations in our approaches and thinking in relation to SBCC interventions for malaria prevention drawing on good practice and evidence from elsewhere; Working closely with the project’s creative partners to inform the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of two integrated and comprehensive SBCC strategies; Fosterinq a strong working relationship with the project’s primary partner the Government of Tanzania, to secure their technical inputs and buy in project’s strategies, messages and activities; Act as the project focal person for NMCP; Working closely with Boresha Awa sister projects and ensure they are involved and engaged in the development of all malaria related strategies, messages, and activities and have associated work plan activities
that relate to the development and regionalization of the SBC communication products in Tulonge Afya workplan; Identifying and adapting best. practice SBCC processes, implementation guidelines, job aids and IPC tools to guide the development of the project’s campaigns and community level SBCC interventions; Collaborating with government and USG implementing partners to identify and ensure where feasible their malaria SBCC needs are being addressed.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in relevant field (MBA, MPH) in marketing, communications or related field and
- 7-9 years of related experience; OR Bachelor’s Degree and 9-11 years of related experience.
- At least 6 – 7 years’ work experience with a public health, development or marketing
- organization, of these at least five years should be at management level capacity, leading the development and implementation of BCC/SBCC initiatives- Expertise and experience in senior capacity working with print, mass media, ICTs and other electronic media required. In addition to possessing communication capacity, technical expertise in research analysis and application preferred.
- Knowledge of public health issues in Malaria is critical and in one or more of the following areas strongly preferred; HIV/AIDS, Family Planning, reproductive health, maternal and child Ile_alth, and TB
- Significant experience of working collaboratively with the MoHCDGEC and PORALG. USAID project experience an asset·
- Must be a confident communicator and presenter- Must be Fluent in spoken and written English including Swahili·
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills are essential, including the ability to present concepts verbally.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of audiences and organizations essential-
- Must be self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management·
- Exhibits strong collaborative spirit, with the ability to, work independently with minimal supervision, and manage a high-volume work flow·
- Proactive, creative, and demonstrates initiative· Passionate, motivated and exhibits a strong work ethic.
- Must be self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
- Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office essential.
