HelpAge Tanzania (HAT) is a national non-governmental organisation registered in Tanzania Mainland and compliant in Zanzibar. HAT envisions a society of equal opportunities where older people and persons with disabilities are empowered, protected, healthy, and able to live with dignity.
HAT works in partnership with various stakeholders across Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. The organisation is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Social Worker.
Duty Station:
Kigoma Region – Kibondo Field Office (Nduta and Nyarugusu Refugee Camps and Host Communities)
Job Purpose:
The Social Worker will support the identification, case management, and protection of Persons with Specific Needs (PSNs), including older women and men, persons with disabilities, and their immediate family members.
Focused on improving protection outcomes, dignity, and wellbeing through routine home visits, psychosocial support, referrals, and community-based protection mechanisms.
The position requires strong experience in GBV case management. The role involves conducting all steps of the GBV case management process for assigned survivors and individuals at risk, in line with survivor-centered principles, inter-agency GBV standards, and national referral pathways.
Personal Specification:
Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology, Community Psychology, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in social work, protection, GBV response, or health programming. Demonstrated experience in GBV case management.
Skillset: Strong understanding of protection principles, human rights, and humanitarian standards. Basic computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
Language Proficiency: Proficiency in spoken and written English. Ability to speak Kirundi and/or French is desirable.
