Purpose of this position:

To provide an expert service relating to design & architect, survey, management of implementation, installation and maintenance of technology contracts and projects.

Job Summary:

This is a full-time on-site role based in Dar es-Salaam for a System Specialist in various technologies at GardaWorld Tanzania.

The Technical Systems Specialists will be responsible for design, troubleshooting, physical installation and maintenance of various technological and security systems as assigned in line with SOPs. The System Specialist will be responsible for day-to-day tasks including system design, planning, configuration, setup and installation, troubleshooting and providing technical support for various systems including, but not limited to including CCTV, Access Control, Networking, Connectivity (Fiber, Wireless), Intruder Detection & Alarms, Fire Detection, Alarms & Suppression.

The candidate does not require all of the above skills in person but various combined skills would be good to have (For example CCTV + Networking etc.)

The role requires strong design, analytical and technical skills and effective communication to ensure smooth functioning of information technology systems, digital security and integration of various technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The incumbent is responsible for installation and maintenance duties that include but are not limited to:
    • Installation / Repair / Maintenance and Fault diagnosis and maintenance of various components of electronic security systems including but not limited to CCTV, Intrusion Detection and Alarms, Access Control, Fences, Intercoms, Networking, Control Center, ICT and Radio Communication
    • Survey / Installation / Repair / Maintenance of various intrusion detection systems including, Electric Fence, IR etc.
    • Survey / Installation / Repair / Maintenance of CCTV Systems
    • Survey / Installation / Repair / Maintenance of Fire Alarms & Suppression Systems
    • Survey / Installation / Repair / Maintenance of Access Control and Time & Attendance Systems
    • Survey / Installation / Repair / Maintenance of Manual & Automatic / Intruder Alarm Systems
    • Survey / Installation / Repair / Maintenance of Fleet Management & Tracking Systems
    • Any other Corporate, Domestic and Industrial Electronic Security Systems and Integration of various technologies for connected operations.
    • Solutions, Design, Implementation, Documentation and Reporting of various technological solutions based on the requirements.
    • Any other duties which might be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor / Management.
    • You will be responsible of taking care of for all the technical material you are to request for a particular assignment until the work is done. You will have to pay for any loss/misplacement of technical materials in your hands.

Principal Outputs of this Role:

  • Productivity - timely delivery of installation and projects, correct diagnosis and suggestions or solutions
  • Quality installations that meet required standards and functionality.
  • Retain solid knowledge of Electronics security systems and their deployment.
  • Proper and precise reporting and ensuring documentation are in place for all design and troubleshooting or implementation of projects with correct drawings.
  • Coordination and communication with the teams, project managers, coordinators, administrators, customer service and clients.

  • Plan and manage the profitability of contracts with a focus on maintenance, sustainability, cost effectiveness and labour.

  • Co-ordinating the Maintenance/Project process flow and activities that has a direct/indirect impact on the outcome and success of contract/project.
  • Plan and co-ordinate daily tasks and subordinates, with close monitoring of standards and hours.

  • Ensuring that all required formal customer meeting are scheduled, attended and minuted.

  • Conduct and oversee quality controls and inspections

Accountability:

The System Specialist is accountable to the Technical Operations Supervisor or Manager, Integrated Solutions Manager or as assigned for responsibilities stated in this job description and / or Projects and Service & Maintenance Contracts. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of KPIs.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Design and Analytical skills and the ability to setup, install, configure, integrate, identify and resolve technical system and issues
  • Experience in troubleshooting and providing technical support
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, users and team members
  • Knowledge and understanding of various electronics, digital security, technological equipment and information technology systems
  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electronics, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Relevant certifications in Networking like CCNA or similar, CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms, Fire Systems, information technology or related areas would be beneficial
  • Educational background in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications – Certificate - Diploma - Higher Diploma – Bachelors Degree
  • Min. 1 - 2 years’ experience as an installations technician in a busy environment include demonstrable experience in security system installation, configuration, testing, integrating, upgrading & troubleshooting.
  • Formal Security Management Training advantageous
  • Electronic Security Services Management (3yrs – Management or similar)
  • Extensive experience w.r.t. implementation of the following systems:
    • CCTV
    • Access Control + Time & Attendance + Visitor Management Systems
    • Intruder Detection & Alarms
    • Fire Detection & Suppression
    • Radio Communication
    • ICT, Networking and Connectivity
  • Experience in Sales of Corporate (Large) Projects
  • Control Room Service experience.
  • Financial Management relative to Security Industry.
  • Good conceptual interpretation and presentation of Financial and Operational Reports to Executive Management.

Software Knowledge:

  • Broad knowledge of Access Control, Time & Attendance, CCTV, Intruder Alarms, Networking
  • Strong knowledge base on networking and communication protocols i.e. TCP/IP etc.
  • Basic Computer literacy and proficiency with full MS-Office Suite capability.

Hardware Knowledge:

  • Broad knowledge of Access Control and Time & Attendance Hardware.
