Job Description

The incumbent will be WFP Liaison Officer in Zanzibar Office, reporting to the Head of Programme, with close support from the Country Office. The responsibilities include:

  • Represent WFP and contribute inputs to the Zanzibar Liaison Officers (ZO) Team.
  • Liaise with UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) through the UN Liaison Officer based in Zanzibar.
  • Represent WFP in activities relevant to the UN and WFP organized by the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (RGoZ).
  • Roll out WFP Country Strategic Plan (CSP) activities in Zanzibar.
  • Provide project management support to specific and defined programs in Zanzibar.
  • Liaise with Government counterparts, NGOs, CSOs, and media for effective collaboration and monitoring of ongoing WFP projects.
  • Follow data gathering and monitoring systems to ensure quality standards for WFP activities.
  • Attend UN activities where WFP is invited.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports for WFP Programmes and activities.
  • Support the identification, development, and management of potential partnerships for food and nutrition assistance, blue economy intervention packages.
  • Support capacity building of Government staff and NGO partners in disaster preparedness and response capacities.
  • Perform other activities as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Advanced Degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or related fields. OR First degree with additional years of related experience and/or trainings/courses.
  • Experience: At least 6 - 8 years' experience in a similar position, with experience in implementing technical programs, designing operations, and contributing to policy discussions.
