Description

S/he will be responsible for overseeing implementation of youth-related activities targeting in school and out of school youth; also participating in the design and delivery of youth community level activities which aims to mobilize youth to access health services and to build the capacity of NGOs/CBOs run by or working with youth. Working with selected CSOs in the districts s/he will support formative research, program strategy, intervention planning and implementation and monitoring and evaluation of activities, which will contribute to a sustained behavior change among youth in Tanzania. Specifically, the Youth Officer will be responsible for: identifying, onboarding and enrolling youth peer educators to facilitate Ipe sessions targeting youth;

Overseeing the day to day management of youth peer educators (communication, activity alignment, supervision, troubleshooting) and monitor peer education sessions; ensuring that existing in school and out of school youth clubs can be leveraged USAID Tulonge Afya needs'(content collection, distribution, and referral); ensuring peer educators/youth champions are provided with all essential tools and information required to enable them to carry out their role within the community e.g. mobile behavior change tools (videos, discussion guides, games, community-generated content) around a variety of topics (health, livelihoods, education) to engage and refer audience members, and have the network and connection to refer youth to health facilities; participating in development of training curriculurn/lob aids of youth champions/peer educators and overseeing the training of peer educators; supporting the USAID Tulonge Afya Zonal Manager to coordinate and implement youth related activities in target regions; facilitatinq and particlpatlnq in effective learning forums with program initiative stakeholders-by using different advocacy techniques like lobbying meetings with health workers to provide youth friendly services.

Requirements:

  • BS/BA with 5-7 years’ experience in youth development, social science/social work, marketing -and/or communications, public health or related field OR MS/MA with 3-5 years experience in the similar field- Knowledge of adolescent development and positive youth development.
  • Must be a confident communicator and presenter. Must be Fluent in spoken and written English including Swahili·
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills are essential, including the ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of audiences and organizations essential
  • Must be self-motivated with a positive and professional approach.
  • Exhibits strong collaborative spirit, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and manage a high-volume work now- Proactive, creative, and demonstrates initiative
  • Passionate, motivated and exhibits a strong work ethic
  • Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office essential
