Assistant Accountant
INDUSTRY: RETAIL
LOCATION: ZANZIBAR
HR World Ltd, on behalf of our client, is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Accountant who will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
Maintain accurate records of invoices, receipts, payments, and journal entries.
Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Monitor cash flow and support effective treasury management.
Support payroll processing and verification of employee expense claims.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes through data compilation and variance analysis.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in preparation of statutory returns.
Liaise with external auditors and provide required financial documentation.
Maintain organized and secure filing systems for financial records.
Manage petty cash transactions and ensure proper documentation and reconciliation of daily expenses.
Provide general administrative support to the finance department as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
1–2 years of experience in accounting or finance (internship experience acceptable).
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems.
Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
