Job Summary
Isamilo International School is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Canteen Manager to lead and manage the daily operations of the school canteen. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the provision of safe, nutritious, and affordable meals while upholding high standards in hygiene, staff supervision, inventory control, and financial management. This pivotal role contributes significantly to fostering a healthy and inclusive learning environment for both students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Canteen Operations
Oversee all daily canteen operations, guaranteeing the timely preparation and service of meals.
Maintain impeccable cleanliness and hygiene standards in strict accordance with Tanzanian food safety regulations.
Implement effective food storage, waste management, and inventory control systems.
Ensure efficient service delivery, especially during peak periods, and effectively manage customer feedback.
Staff Supervision
Lead the recruitment, training, and supervision of canteen staff.
Develop and manage duty rosters, closely monitoring staff attendance.
Foster a spirit of teamwork, promote high service standards, and cultivate a positive working environment.
Conduct regular staff performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for professional development.
Financial Management
Develop and manage the canteen budget effectively.
Monitor daily revenue and expenditure, ensuring financial accountability.
Maintain accurate financial records and provide timely periodic reports.
Procurement and Inventory
Control costs and actively minimize food waste.
Source high-quality supplies from reputable and reliable vendors.
Negotiate favorable pricing while consistently maintaining superior quality standards.
Conduct regular inventory checks and ensure prompt and efficient procurement of supplies.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to all food safety and hygiene standards.
Confirm that all canteen staff possess valid health certificates.
Implement comprehensive food safety training programs and standard operating procedures.
Customer Service and Community Engagement
Professionally address and resolve feedback from students, parents, and staff.
Actively support initiatives aimed at promoting healthy eating habits within the school community.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirement: Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Management, Catering, or a closely related field.
A Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or Business Management will be considered an added advantage.
Proven experience in canteen, catering, or food service management.
Solid knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
Strong leadership, financial management, and customer service skills.
Previous experience working in an international or multicultural environment is an added advantage.
