Chief Accountant
INDUSTRY: OIL AND GAS
HR World Limited, on behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a Chief Accountant who will be responsible for overseeing all financial and management accounting activities, ensuring compliance with IFRS standards, managing financial reporting, tax compliance, and leading the accounting team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee all accounting operations including financial and management accounting activities.
Ensure all accounting entries comply with IFRS and IAS standards.
Monitor cost centers and profit center postings for accuracy.
Review general ledger entries and ensure all transactions are properly supported.
Review bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable aging reports.
Manage fixed assets accounting, stock control, and cost accounting processes.
Approve and post journal entries including inventory, sales, purchases, payments, and adjustments.
Review and approve payment vouchers, payroll, and capital expenditure requests.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial reports.
Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance.
Ensure proper cut-off procedures and accuracy of trial balances.
Prepare financial statements in compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
Coordinate audits, prepare audit schedules, and respond to audit queries.
Ensure full compliance with tax regulations including VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory obligations.
Manage treasury functions including cash flow monitoring, bank reconciliations, and forecasting.
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
Monitor financial risks and implement effective internal controls.
Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff.
Act as key user for accounting systems, providing support and coordination with IT.
Deputize for the Finance Manager when required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is required.
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in accounting or tax, preferably in a similar industry.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, IAS, and financial reporting standards.
Experience with computerized accounting systems (ERP systems preferred).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
