Global Leaf Tanzania Limited (GLT) is a registered company involved in the buying and selling of tobacco both domestically and internationally. Established in September 2023, GLT operates across four regions in Tanzania: Shinyanga, Mara, Mbeya, and Tabora. Job Summary
The Export Officer will be responsible for the comprehensive management and coordination of all export activities related to tobacco products. This role demands ensuring adherence to international trade regulations, meticulous preparation of export documentation, efficient coordination of shipments, and fostering robust relationships with international buyers and logistics partners. The Export Officer will be pivotal in ensuring that all tobacco exports are processed efficiently, legally, and in strict accordance with company policies and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

Export Documentation

Prepare and process all necessary export documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, phytosanitary certificates, and bills of lading.
Ensure the accuracy and full compliance of all documentation with import/export regulations.


Export Coordination

Liaise effectively with shipping companies, freight forwarders, and clearing agents to guarantee the timely shipment of tobacco products.
Monitor export schedules closely and ensure all delivery deadlines are met.


Regulatory Compliance

Ensure all export activities strictly comply with Tanzanian regulations and relevant international trade laws.
Maintain compliance with all relevant authorities, such as the Tanzania Revenue Authority and the Tanzania Tobacco Board.


Customer and Market Coordination

Communicate proactively with international buyers regarding orders, shipment status, and required documentation.
Handle export inquiries efficiently and resolve any shipment-related issues promptly.


Logistics Management

Arrange all transportation needs, including booking of cargo space and coordination with warehousing facilities.
Track shipments diligently and ensure the proper handling of all tobacco consignments.


Record Keeping

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all export transactions and associated documentation.
Prepare comprehensive export reports for management review.


Cost Control

Monitor all export-related costs, including freight, insurance, and documentation fees.
Assist in negotiating with logistics service providers to secure cost-effective shipment solutions.


Risk Management

Ensure adequate insurance coverage for all export consignments.
Identify and implement measures to mitigate potential risks within export operations.


Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 1–5 years of experience in export operations, with a preference for experience in agricultural commodities or tobacco.
Strong knowledge of export documentation requirements and international shipping procedures.
Familiarity with customs procedures and international trade regulations.
Knowledge of export compliance with international institutions such as the World Trade Organization is considered an added advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
