Bank of India (Tanzania) Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary, is actively seeking dynamic, experienced, and dedicated Tanzanian professionals to join our team for the following critical role:

General Manager

Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Attributes:

A Master's degree and/or Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Accountancy, Banking, Finance, Business Administration and Management, or Risk and Compliance.
Candidates possessing an additional qualification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) will be highly regarded.
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a commercial banking environment, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership capacity.
Demonstrated expertise and a solid understanding of bank credit and lending portfolio management.
In-depth knowledge of credit risk assessment methodologies and effective mitigation strategies.
Exceptional strategic thinking and leadership capabilities.
Comprehensive knowledge of banking regulations and business operations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Excel.
Proven ability to influence and mobilize customers.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee the comprehensive business operations and management functions of the bank.
Report directly to the Managing Director/Board of Directors.
Assume overall responsibility for various bank departments, including Credit, Risk and Compliance, Human Resources, and all bank branches.
Annually review and update bank policies for submission to the Board/Regulator for approval, as mandated.
Develop and implement robust risk mitigation strategies.
Analyze diverse risk scenarios and prepare essential agendas for the Board and its committees.
Serve as the Convener of the Executive Committee (EXCO).
Maintain regular communication and liaison with statutory authorities, including the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), other local banks, the Bank of Tanzania (BOT), and corporate clients on banking business matters.
Ensure strict adherence to BOT regulations and guidelines, as well as internal bank policies.
Manage relationships with bank vendors.
Actively canvass for new business opportunities for the bank.
