Job Purpose
The Senior Accountant Officer is responsible for the day-to-day processing of claims from branches for the SASTAIN projects. The role focuses on processing staff claims from all program staff and initiating expenditure recording in the ERP. Drive measurable donor reporting support and End of Month cut-off processes. Management of Branch suspense.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Timely settlement of Payables
Monthly Management of Branch Suspense Accounts
Timely & accurate recording origination of expenditure entries in ERP.
Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations (Withholding taxes).
Implement and regularly update EBTL risk register, conduct RCAs for the finance department.
This includes timely processing of per Diems, transport & Stipend payments for the SASTAIN project staff.

Preparation and filing accurate and timely tax returns
Adequate Cashflow for Programs
Compliance with Donor Contractual Requirements
Compliance with EBTL Finance & Procurement P&Ps
Statutory Audit of the program Financial Statements
Internal Audit of Donor Funded Program
External Audit of Donor Funded Projects per Donor Contracts
Compliance with Equity Group Risk Requirements
Talent development
Productivity & Leave
Key Decisions Made by the Job-Holder (Not Recommendations) and How Often
Reviewing and approving project staff claims, invoices, ensuring they are fully supported and met the policy requirements for the program.
Makes decisions on how to categorize transactions appropriately to avoid errors and post them into ERP as an initiator.

External: Partners, vendors
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge
Qualifications & Experience
5+ years in Finance operations as an accountant.
Experience in working with donor-funded programs will be an added advantage.
Degree in a business-related course.
CPA(T)/ACCA qualification.
Competency in MS Office.
Experience in the use of ERP & DMIS.
Key Technical Skills & Leadership Competencies
Knowledge of donor-specific financial guidelines and compliance requirements.
Experienced use of ERP, DMIS as well as advanced use of spreadsheets.
Accuracy in preparing financial reports.
Clear and effective communication.
Ability to collaborate with other working teams within the bank.
Capacity to train and mentor staff on donor compliance and financial best practices.
