HR World Limited, on behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit an Accountant who will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, maintaining proper financial controls, and handling tax compliance with strong experience in restaurant business operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including receivables, payables, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for restaurant operations.
- Monitor daily sales reports, cash collections, and bank deposits to ensure proper reconciliation.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage restaurant cost control processes including food cost, beverage cost, and operational expenses.
- Oversee stock management, inventory reconciliation, and support periodic stock takes.
- Prepare monthly financial reports including profit and loss statements and management accounts.
- Handle tax compliance matters including VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, SDL, and other statutory obligations.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of tax returns in compliance with TRA requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation for tax audits and support during TRA inspections.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities and provide financial analysis to management.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards.
- Assist in preparation of annual financial statements and support external audit processes.
- Liaise with suppliers, service providers, and internal departments on payment processing and approvals.
- Provide recommendations to improve financial efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen financial procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- CPA (T) or equivalent professional certification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience as an Accountant, preferably within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of restaurant accounting, cost control, and inventory management.
- Proven experience in handling tax matters and TRA compliance.
- Good knowledge of accounting systems and MS Office (especially Excel).
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
