Chief Accountant

HR World Limited, on behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a Chief Accountant who will be responsible for overseeing all financial and management accounting activities, ensuring compliance with IFRS standards, managing financial reporting, tax compliance, and leading the accounting team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee all accounting operations including financial and management accounting activities.
• Ensure all accounting entries comply with IFRS and IAS standards.
• Monitor cost centers and profit center postings for accuracy.
• Review general ledger entries and ensure all transactions are properly supported.
• Review bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable aging reports.
• Manage fixed assets accounting, stock control, and cost accounting processes.
• Approve and post journal entries including inventory, sales, purchases, payments, and adjustments.
• Review and approve payment vouchers, payroll, and capital expenditure requests.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial reports.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance.
• Ensure proper cut-off procedures and accuracy of trial balances.
• Prepare financial statements in compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate audits, prepare audit schedules, and respond to audit queries.
• Ensure full compliance with tax regulations including VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory obligations.
• Manage treasury functions including cash flow monitoring, bank reconciliations, and forecasting.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
• Monitor financial risks and implement effective internal controls.
• Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff.
• Act as key user for accounting systems, providing support and coordination with IT.
• Deputize for the Finance Manager when required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in accounting or tax, preferably in a similar industry.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, IAS, and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with computerized accounting systems (ERP systems preferred).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
• High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
