Overview

The Technical Advisor – MNH will play an important role at the national regional and district level and demonstrating, providing technical assistance to strengthen and scale up EmONC serviced, such as obstetric care, newborn care, postnatal care, etc. S/he will ensure that Jhpiego’s programs implement national guidelines and tools. This position requires a high level of competence in providing EmONC services, including CEmONC.

Required Qualifications:

·         MD or AMO coupled with 5 years midwifery or clinician experience

·         Knowledge and experience of MNCH clinical training particularly on basic and comprehensive essential obstetrical and newborn care

·         Demonstrated experience in clinical training and mentoring

·         Ability to interact with established networks of senior-level international health professionals, donors, universities and other partners

·         Field oriented and comfortable with a team approach to programming and the ability to manage several major activities  simultaneously

·         Demonstrated collaborative relationship with field-based international donor agencies

·         Experience building capacity at individual and organizational levels

·          The ability to liaise with senior MOH officials  and dignitaries, executives of NGOs, GBOs, CBOs, the for-profit business community, and senior members of the donor community;

·         Demonstrated in-depth understanding of Tanzania health care system, particularly the public health system, experience living and working in Tanzania preferred

·         Strong oral and written communication and presentations skill sin Kiswahili and English;

·         Ability to coach, mentor and develop  technical capacity in national programs and technical staff in the areas

·         Excellent written, presentation, communication, and organizational skills in both English and Kiswahili

·         Ability to travel frequently and on short notice.
